Radiactive Iodine - February 2007.
Radioactive Iodine-dry mouth everything tasted like cardboard for over two months. Salivary gland infection.
Rad 131 2 times
Radiation scheduled for June 30 in Dallas. Body Scan scheduled 2 weeks after radiation. Goal is the radiation will kill any cells remaining in my body.
RAI 150 mci in Jan/09 and a second round scheduled in 12/09
RAI-Radioactive Iodine Abalation on 9/8/2009-some activity noted in the thyroid area, but no where else.
RA-131 74.4 Mci on June 5th. Side effects included swelling of my throat and neck, headache, nausea and eventually really nasty taste in my mouth. June 12th - full body scan, results were good, and follow up on July 24th with blood work. August 2010 follow up blood work and neck ultrasound which still shows NED. Lasting side effect from RAI - Blocked saliva glands, jaw pain and constant headache. Saliva started improving in July 2010 - but still have the pain and headache.

RAI 131 May 2003, Feb 2005, June 2010 side effects: fatigue, brain fog, mouth dryness, dry skin achy joints especially hips.
Radioactive Iodine-131: 4/16/10 - 7 days total quarantine. Irritated lung tissue, scalp sores, dry mouth, nausea.
Had Thyrogen injections on August 16th & 17th and then the RAI on August 18th. My face, neck and throat didn't start to hurt until a few weeks after the RAI. Now it seems with the cold weather my face hurts. Swollen salivary glands. Very tired all the time. Just completed my 6 month whole body scan and bloodwork for thyroglobulin...waiting on results.
100 mCu I-131, Oct. 1, 2008. I-123 scans April 2009 and Oct. 2009.
Took internal i-131 radiation, was sequestered from all life (and my 9 month old baby) for 3 days - I still wonder about the long term effects of that radiation....
4 rounds of I-131, roughly 500 millicuries each time: 1. May 2005; 2. December 2005; 3. December 2007; 4. December 2009

I completed RAI-131 in December 2009 and follow up scans until 2010. Follow up ultrasounds with lymph node mapping tests continue.
I had 98 millicuries of I-131 on 12-10-2008. Being hypo was bad! I worked up until a week before the treatment which if I ever have to do it again I will take off work much earlier!! My sweet mom had to cook all my LID meals. I had to save my energy for work. The actual treatment was fine. I was only in the hospital in isolation for 24 hours. I drank lots of fluids and took many showers in order to get out fast!! haha

Jan 13th 2012 first round of I-131 - Loss of taste buds, bad taste in my mouth, nausea, swollen glands, and sore throat.
RAI treatment - July 2011. No side effects.
Radiation March 2010. Didn't work
Radiation treatment to begin February 20, 2012. Two days of intramuscular shots then a pill of 50 micrograms. Currently on synthroid every day.
Eight weeks after surgery I had to go in for a Radioactive iodine treatment. The hardest part of this was being away from my family for a week. In regards to side effects, I had some sores in my mouth and an upset stomach for a few weeks.
RAI in June. Ultasound last week (Feb. 2012) no side effects
Radioactive iodine (103 mCi of I-131) on May 17th, 2012.

8/30/11: I recieved the I-123 scan. 9/2/11: I had I-131 treatment, which is a radioactive iodine pill that kills off the cancerous thyroid tissue. The only side effect that I expericenced was a temporary loss of taste.

6/25/14: Radioactive iodine (i-131), 146mCi. Side effects: nausea, swelling/pain in salivary glands, loss of appetite, loss of taste, metallic taste, dry mouth, burning mouth, fatigue. Long term side effects so far: salivary gland pain, intermittent dry mouth, cold sensitivity in teeth.
I took the Pill in November of 2013. I was on the low-iodine diet for ten days. I had an extremely hard time with the diet, and my neck was sore for a week after i took the pill.
RAI July 7. 2014. A little nausea and some loss of taste. Still waiting for that to return.
RAI, 9/24/14, nausea (lots of it), slight headache, very loose bowels (too much info?)
