Medical Term for the Type of Cancer: Esophageal Cancer
Esophagus Cancer Symptoms: Problems swallowing, weight loss, lethargy, hearburn, burping
Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects: Cancer was at the esophageal-gastric junction and brought on by Barrett's Esophagus. Had 2/3 to 3/4 of the esophagus removed as well as the upper portion of the stomach, then had the remainder of the stomach pulled up into the chest and reattached to the remaining portion of the esophagus.

Medical Term for the Type of Cancer: Stage IV Esophageal cancer with mets to the brain and ribs
Esophagus Cancer Symptoms: I threw up whatever I ate and lost 10 lbs. Before that, I had chronic heartburn.
Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects: Had chemo and radiation to shrink the esophageal tumor. It was very large. Had an esophagectomy and stomach pull-up 10-07. Had 4 craniotomies with tumor exicision of the brain. But, I am still here.
Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects: Too many chemo regimens and drugs to count. At present, I am on Xeloda, Herceptin and Avastin. One drug was damaging my liver, but okay now. Herceptin was damaging my heart, but it is okay now.

Esophagus Cancer Symptoms: difficulty swallowing, bad reflux
Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects: Endoscopy on November 26th. Nausea from anesthesia. Sore throat from procedure. Sofe diet for 5 days.
Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects: Carboplatin and Taxol for 5 rounds. No side effects at all except tired on day 2 & 3 post treatment day. Tolerate chemo well.

Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects: Sysplatin that almost killed my it caused my kidneys to shut down. I cause me to become completely dependent on others. I didn't spell the Chemo right but it sounded like that. I don't know what the fed me after I was released from the hospital.

Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects: esophagectomy, June06. Removed esophagus and half of stomach leaving me with a stomaphagus.Lost 50 pounds. Permanent (so far) damage to pancreas.
Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects: preadjuvant, and adjuvant, 12 week cycles with cisplatin, epirubicin and 5FU. For recurrence it was oxciliplatin, leukovorin and 5FU.
