Melissa
Bio: I am 39 and at 38 years old was diagnosed with colon cancer. My colon cancer is very different than normal colon cancers because of my age, the size and it's length, so says the Oncologist. Medical Term for the Type of Cancer: Colorectal Cancer in the Sigmoid Colon
Colon and Rectal Cancer Symptoms: I put it all in my biography.
Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects: I had 12" of my Sigmoid Colon removed on 11/19/07. The tumor was 4.3cm at the colonoscopy, but more accurately measured 6.1cm after resection. There were 14 out of 32 lymph nodes with cancer cells present.
Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects: I had my 1st chemo treatment on 12/10/07. If cancer cells remain, they are microscopic and floating around in my body and being ZAPPED by chemo! I qualified for a trial and receive Erbitux (usually for metastatic cancer) every week (which causes acne). The nausea is gone for now, mouth sores are fading, and acne is blossoming. The…more
