Bio: March 18, 2011...the day the doctor said the "C" word. I hate to even write the word "cancer" as it almost feels like that makes it real. I feel pretty lucky that they caught the tumor on my kidney while it was small. I also am not slated to have major treatments that so many go through.…more
Cancer Type: Kidney Cancer
Stage of Cancer: Stage 1
Medical Term for the Type of Cancer: renal cell carcinoma
Cancer Symptoms: Nothing yet, tumor is small. Found it while looking for gall stones due to unusual blood-work results. Thank goodness my doctor took the abnormal blood results seriously enough to recommend an ultrasound = early detection.
Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects: June 26 will have a Da Vinci Robotic surgery to remove the tumor. Didn't realize that if they had to take the whole kidney they can just enlarget the hole and sqeeze it out. That helps as I am saving up leave and the recovery still would be short (~2 weeks).

Cancer Type: Ovarian Cancer
Stage of Cancer: Stage 4
Medical Term for the Type of Cancer: Stage 4 Ovarian
Cancer Symptoms: Started with a flat tummy but a few little lumps on my ribcage.
Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects: Gee, they took out EVERYTHING (2014)! Full hysterectomy, appendix, colon, and scraped off walls, liver, etc. After 11 hours, they had about 90% removed, and that was the best they could do. I sure miss my colon. . .
Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects: Carboplatin, taxol, avastin, and a PARP inhibitor for 6 rounds, then remission for about 7 months. Then more carboplatin and taxol for 3 more treatments until I became resistant, then onto the MEK/Milo trial. Failed that after 2 months, now looking into immunotherapy

Here are some of the cancer communities top pages: anal cancer symptoms, prostate cancer symptoms, and kidney cancer symptoms. We have a lot of symptoms listed that are straight from cancer patients, not doctors.

Blog for a Cure also has a tight group of cancer warriors helping each other out. These are some of our top groups: anal cancer survivors, lung cancer survivors, and breast cancer survivors. Some times it is difficult to talk about anal cancer symptoms and treatment with your friends and family but the warriors on here get it.

Some times it is hard to find what you are looking for in these communities and with so many pages. Please contact us, if there is something particular you are looking for and can't find it.
