Port-a-cath insertion: 4/06, Periodic pain although it is more annoying than painful most of the time. Oopherectomy: 5/06, The burning was the most painful part of this surgery. It went away fairly quickly though. Hip nail procedure: 9/06, Learning to walk again and learning to walk up and down stairs again was painful, but better than having a full hip replacement if I broke the hip. This was a profelactic measure as there were lesions on the base of the hip ball. Kyphoplasty: 2/07, Really improved the pain in my back which wasn't helped by radiation treatment.

Mastectomy in Aug.'08 because dcis was in 2 places. Lumpectomy not an option and besides, I didn't have to have chemo or any other after treatment. Endometrial cancer caused complete hysterectomy in August '09. I am just now finished with 6 months of chemo and 28 radiation treatments. Both were hell. Chemo put me in the hospital the first two treatments. Dehydration, near kidney failure, hallucinations, dysentery, metal mouth made me not want to eat or drink. If I can say it again : Hydrate all day every day!
Hysterectomy with bso June 25, 2010. Laproscopic surgery. Lymph node dissection. Surgeon said he thought they caught it early, as in most cases. Pathology came back July 6. Stage IIIC2 with positive nodes in pelvis & periaoritic. Seriously? Yes :(

7 different surgeries between 2006 and 2010 July 2006 Wire Insertion for biopsy August 2006 Sentinel node surgery when biopsy that SHOULD have been nothing.. which is why nodes weren't checked with biopsy Sept 2006 Bilateral mastectomy with tissue expanders (the drains were AWFUL but they have garments now to keep the weight off the drain) April 2007 Exchange surgery (chose "gummy bears" which are silicone something or others still technically in clinical trial) Same surgery, Ovaries and tubes removed (BRCA test showed mutations on both genes, but of unknown significance. At 50, wasn't taking a chance by leaving them in) August 2007 Nipple reconstruction with fat injections to fill in hollow parts of chest (got a free tummy lipo) 2008-Cone biopsy due to bad pap (unrelated to BC) but when I called the oncologist screaming because I understood too many of the words in the pathology report from the colposcopy and he said, "cancer cells are there" but you don't need me... this is a surgical cancer...how comforting. October 2010 Complete hysterectomy (cervix included) using DaVinci System (robot) which was AMAZING.... this was the most "major" of all the surgeries and thanks to the robot, it was the easiest recovery, hands down.
My surgery was 1/31/11 to remove ovary w/ tumor and uterus. After tumor was tested positive for cancer, other ovary, cervix, tubes, appendix, and wall of fat (can't remember the medical term), all removed. No adverse effects of surgery. I healed quickly and without incident.
May 17, 2011--Radical Hysterectomy(DaVinci)surprise abdominal hernia repair Recovered well from both. I developed a seroma behind my largest incision Memorial Day weekend and leaked like a faucet for 5 days. Sent from urgent care to ER. No infection, just an annoyance.
Had a complete hysterectomy on July 27, 2011. Side effects where minimal and came home in 4 days.
My mom was in surgery about 5 days later. By this time she was absolutely miserable b/c of the fluid which had built up in her belly. My mom is a tiny woman, 5ft and just over 100lbs and the doctor removed 6 LITERS of fluid during the surgery. She also removed, in her words, "anything that my mom didn't need" which included: ovaries, F tubes, uterus, cervix, appendix, omentum, and any cancer that had "planted" itself on her lining, diaphram, and colon intestines. (Just in case there is anyone out there who is clueless like I was: She did this with a suction devise that she said literally sucks the cancer right off. She also explained that just because the cancer is on the surface of an area or organ does not mean that it has metastasized to that organ/area. That was much welcomed news to me!)
Surgery November 30, 2011 Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, omentectomy, lymph node and appendix removal. Staging. Left ovary cantalope sized (0ver 6" diameter} was wrapping around bowel. Right ovary golf ball sized. 5 Days in hospital.

Total Hysterectomy with tumor debulking, lymph node dissection and omentectomy mild ileus post op and post op wound infection being treated with antibiotics, wound breakdown, being treated with wound care and soon a wound vacuum. UTI from catheter.
Radical hysterectomy on August 6, 2012. Hot Flashes began 2 weeks later.
There were three surgeries: The first was a laparoscopy to diagnose disease; The second was an attempt to debulking which was aborted due to tumor size. The third surgery happened after 4 cycles of chemotherapy. It was a total hysterectomy with optimal cytoreduction.
Had a double mastectomy and expanders inserted in August. Side pain, side effects of pain meds, and dealing with the drains was the most uncomfortable. Then had my ovaries & tubes removed in September. Didn't feel quite like myself for 2 weeks. Was worried about menopause, but nothing too bad. Just hot flashes, but I've had those for years! They just happen more often.
Laparoscopic and open surgery. Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy and total Hysterectomy, debulking and removal of Omentum. Well tolerated. Home on fourth morning.

Found Atypical cells in abdominal fluid. 2000ml drained. 4/04/2014 - Exploratory Laparotomy, Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, Bilateral Salpingo-oopherectomy, omentectomy, lymph node dissection, cancer staging. Found tumor in both ovaries. Left ovary and mass measured 9.0 x 7.5 x 2.0 cm. Right ovary and mass measured 10.5 x 7.5 x 5.1 cm. Nodules on my omentum, bladder, and paracolic gutter (area between the abdominal wall and the colon). All of these we're non-invasive implants.
Egg Retrieval [fought for reproductive rights before surgery] on April 20th, 2014. 11 eggs were retrieved, 10 were mature, 4 were fertilized, only 1 made it to blastocyst stage to be frozen, my fiance and I fondly refer to it as "icicle", and we're hoping it will grow into a baby next summer. I had mostly bloating from that surgery, but the medicine I was one to STIM [Lupron, Brevelle, and Menopur] gave me bad migraines. Da Vinci [Robot-Assisted] Laproscopic Hystrectomy and Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy on April 20th, 2014. Not too many side-effects- itching/burning around the incisions on my abdomen, gas pain- mostly in my abdomen, abdomen pain- but it feels mostly like I went to the gym and did way too many sit-ups, so it's unpleasant but not unbearable. I have bloating, which is irksome, but that's mostly "swelly belly" from the gas and incisions.

DaVinci robot assisted laparoscopic surgery on 3/23/16 -- one night stay in hospital, feeling a little sore still a week later in area where lymph nodes were removed
I had my right ovary extracted at age 21, but this time, there was a tumor growing in its place. Surgery took place April 20.
Hysterectomy went great, pain managed with a morphine pump. Overnight stay. 3 week recovery. Cancer discovered post TAH. 5 weeks post TAH had 12 Lymph nodes removed and Omentum removed. That surgery was a nightmare for me. GYN ONC did robotic surgery, I had 5 new incisions after just having 3. No pain management post op. I managed better at home by taking twice the prescribed Norco. Day 7 I finally got dressed. Still in lots of pain. Have numb areas on my legs though they are not swollen. Abdomen very swollen. I think I might have a hernia. I see the Doc in 4 days. All my biopsies were benign.

In 10th July 2009,I was found a slightly high 1.5cm*1.5cm light mass in my riht lobe of liver. Then it was diagnosed in 17th July after MRI and Pet CT. It's Primary liver cancer. And in 23rd July, I was found two tumors more than 10cm. Also I have serious Liver cirrhosis. On 4th August, I accept the surgery. 4 weeks after the surgery, have preventive intervention treatment. On 7th November, I start SolaFini targeted therapy. But it has very strong side effect to me.It's a really painful period. Diarrhea, ulceration of hands and feet, hair loss, severe drop of white blood cells and platelets all comes to me, almost destroy me. I even can't bear it in that time. My husband running around China to find useful medicine for me. He insist my treatment should be a Integrated treatment with immune therapy as the core. I ate Chinese medicine, and take Recombinant Human Granulocyte Colony-stimulating Factor Injection to improve my immunity. In the process, I really appreciate Chinese medicine, espeacially reishi. My niece brings me a medicine after She heard I have serious side effect of targeted therapy, it's reishi spore oi and another product. My attending physician forbids me to eat this. I don't eat, my niece told me it all natural and the functional triterpene can improve immunity. I can't bear the pain, so I secretly ate it. A miracle appeared. The side effect becomes lighter and lighter. It really has a great function to improve immunity. So I appreciate so much . Liver cancer always seen as one of the most dangerous cancer, I have prepared to live only 5 years, but with my husband' careful concern and my family's encourage, I live strongly till now. In this process, I have some feelings to share with you all, my friends. 1. Face it, and laugh to it, never hide. You strong, it weak. 2. Weak immunity is the main reason of cancer, so improve immunity is important. 3. If it's possible, do more things as a common people, never think yourself as a patient. I think it's really a unforgettable experience in my life, it needs record. All my friends here, hope you are strong to face life, and happier forever.
