Dec. 6, 2010: Went into the Marin General ER with (what I thought) was bad food poisoning. Turned out to be a carcinoid tumor wrapped around my intestines and appendix. The doctor removed part of the lower intestine, tumor and appendix. He put it all in a bucket and showed it to my wife in the waiting room. It took about five months to recover from all that. My system is still kinda tender. Summer 2011: Right hemicolectomy at Stanford to remove some lymph nodes that showed signs of cancer. It took a few months before the sutures really healed and longer before I felt I could get back into a normal routine.
