June 1, 2006 Laproscopy...ultimately colonoscopy, and partial small intesting removal...with lymphnode involvement June 12, 2006 Placement of a port-a-cath for IV chemo. October 5, 2006 Coloscopy take down (reversal), and debulking...removal of tubes, ovaries, omentum, and more lymphnodes.
Mastectomy and reconstruction for left side. Breast lift for right. I had the latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction. I had an expander put in because I was going to have radiation. This surgery was October of 2004.Later, I had the implant put in. That was January of 2006. I think having the muscle in my back redirected to make a pouch for my implant was more painful than the mastectomy.
I opted for a lumpectomy, mainly because I didn't want to lose my hair! Since the cancer was agressive and had traveled to my lymph nodes (7 out of 12), I went through chemo and lost my hair anyway. The surgery was October 2002. I had an emergency surgery to install a medi-port after the second chemo treatment because my veins went on strike. Next up: oophrectomy. They removed my ovaries. Oh to be in menopause at age 40. Is it hot in here to you?
September 20 2006, re-section - 12 inches removed, 12 lymph nodes removed and tested, 4 positive
1/24/07 - Lump was removed and biospied 2/13/07 - Lumpectomy with axillary disection
I had a biospy first & it turned out positive of cancer. I then had another surgery, to check the lymph nodes, thank God, they were neg., after that one I got staff infection & boy it was worst pain than the surgery itself. I was on 1000 mg of infection for almost 2 wks. Well, after I found out I had cancer, I was in shock for around a mon. or so, so were my parents, we could not look at each other without crying. It felt like I had been given a death sentence. You know, when you hear the big "C" word, everyone thinks, the big "D" word & I'm here to tell you, it's not always true. Then one day I was talking to a friend & she told me, Denise, you have to take hold of this thing & show it your not a quiter. That your gonna fight this with all you got, cause if you don't, it'll take you over & it will win. Well, needless to say, something just clicked & I woke up & from then on I fought this thing & 3 years later, here I am.

removal of avaries (had had hysterectomy in 1981 but they left both ovaries at that time), omentum, several lymph nodes, Jan. 31, 2006. Optimum debulking. Surgical scar runs from just above pubic bone to just under breasts. Gyn/Onc told me I had an enormous omentum, much larger than "normal", making the huge scar necessary for complete removal. She installed an InterPeritoneal Port for IP chemo at the time of the surgery. Had serious pain for weeks following surgery; also had 2 pulmonary emboli as a result of surgery, requiring treatment with Warfarin. Because of PEs, chemo was delayed 2 weeks.

Advises me to use sunscreen daily and my scar shouldn't be as noticeable. Also had a hard time swallowing for a few days after surgery. Most likely caused by the breathing tube inserted during surgery. A week later and I can swallow without pain. The week after surgery I would feel great for awhile and then become really tired. My calcium level did dip a little and I have been taking calcium supplements that make me nauseous.

To be diagnosed, I had a lymph node on the side of my neck removed to be tested in late October, 2008. That was what confirmed the diagnosis of Hodgkins lymphoma. I also had a (purple power) port placed in November then removed in July of 2009 after the treatments ended.

Sepember 30 removal and resection of 14cm of colon and rectum. 5 of 20 lymph nodes were infected. Because of type 2 diabetes recovery was slow and developed an abscess from where the resection did not heal. A Cook drain was installed to drain the abscess. After 7 months the abscess has not fully closed and I await the doctor's decision to "glue" the abscess and resection. Because of the difficulty of the surgery I am using an Ileostomy. Because of the lack of healing I am no longer eligible for adjuvant chemotherapy.
