DaVinci Robot Assisted Radical Hysterectomy and Bilateral Lymphadenectomy (kept both ovaries). 5 incisions in abdomen, little pain, quick recovery (up walking around that night and home the next day). Only took pain medicine for 3 days. The biggest nuisance was the catheter. I had a UTI (urinary tract infection) with bladder spasms 5 days after my surgery. Once the catheter was removed and antibiotics started, I felt much better. Went back to work 5 weeks after surgery. Egg Retrieval [fought for reproductive rights before surgery] on April 20th, 2014. 11 eggs were retrieved, 10 were mature, 4 were fertilized, only 1 made it to blastocyst stage to be frozen, my fiance and I fondly refer to it as "icicle", and we're hoping it will grow into a baby next summer. I had mostly bloating from that surgery, but the medicine I was one to STIM [Lupron, Brevelle, and Menopur] gave me bad migraines. Da Vinci [Robot-Assisted] Laproscopic Hystrectomy and Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy on April 20th, 2014. Not too many side-effects- itching/burning around the incisions on my abdomen, gas pain- mostly in my abdomen, abdomen pain- but it feels mostly like I went to the gym and did way too many sit-ups, so it's unpleasant but not unbearable. I have bloating, which is irksome, but that's mostly "swelly belly" from the gas and incisions.

Gee, they took out EVERYTHING (2014)! Full hysterectomy, appendix, colon, and scraped off walls, liver, etc. After 11 hours, they had about 90% removed, and that was the best they could do. I sure miss my colon. . .
2/25/2016 Robotic. No major side effects. Post-surgery constipation (thanks to a few days of opioids) then the opposite, then balance, finally. This seems to be the usual course of recovery. Make sure you have a pillow for your belly for the ride home from the hospital. Avoid dairy products at all costs.
Numerous colonscopies.
Hysterectomy went great, pain managed with a morphine pump. Overnight stay. 3 week recovery. Cancer discovered post TAH. 5 weeks post TAH had 12 Lymph nodes removed and Omentum removed. That surgery was a nightmare for me. GYN ONC did robotic surgery, I had 5 new incisions after just having 3. No pain management post op. I managed better at home by taking twice the prescribed Norco. Day 7 I finally got dressed. Still in lots of pain. Have numb areas on my legs though they are not swollen. Abdomen very swollen. I think I might have a hernia. I see the Doc in 4 days. All my biopsies were benign.

Total Hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy
Went in for post menapausal bleeding. My left ovary was enveloped in an unusual cyst. Because if my weight and three previous c-cections I was opened up for surgery and had a complete hysterectomy. Omentum, lymph nodes and fluid were tested at that time and all came back negative for cancer. There was stage one cancer in the ovary and in the uterus. CA125 were within normal ranges this whole time. May 5, 2016. Follow up visits looked good. Ca125 still showed nothing. February if 2017 I had shortness of breath. Went in and discovered my right lung was surrounded with fluid. A thorencentisis was done the fluid was biopsies and came back positive for ovarian cancer. I've had three more thorancentisis and finally a broncoscopy with VATS. This removed the fluid and causes the plural lining to firm scar tissue to stick to itself so the cancer doesn't firm blisters and create the fluid.
