2/16/05 - Left Ovary, falopian tube, pelvic tissue, lymph nodes removed Side effects, horrible scar, numb skin. 9/24/08 - full hysterectomy
I've had 3 surgeries total. The 1st was laproscopic when they discovered I didn't have endometriosis, what they originally thought I had. That's when they discovered that the 2 huge tumors were either cancerous or pre-cancerous. On the 2nd surgery they removed the 2 tumors and managed to save my ovaries, but the patholgy sent to Johns Hopkins came back showing a 6 mm invasive carcinoma in my right ovary, and the left ovary had a micro-invasive tumor. On January 29th, 2007, I had a total ovarian hysterectomy.

removal of avaries (had had hysterectomy in 1981 but they left both ovaries at that time), omentum, several lymph nodes, Jan. 31, 2006. Optimum debulking. Surgical scar runs from just above pubic bone to just under breasts. Gyn/Onc told me I had an enormous omentum, much larger than "normal", making the huge scar necessary for complete removal. She installed an InterPeritoneal Port for IP chemo at the time of the surgery. Had serious pain for weeks following surgery; also had 2 pulmonary emboli as a result of surgery, requiring treatment with Warfarin. Because of PEs, chemo was delayed 2 weeks.
I've had one surgery. Can't imagine there would be much need to do another... they removed just about everything including my appendix (smile).

Had ultrasound on 2/19, which discovered a mass on my right ovary. Had a hysterectomy on 2/27/08, where they discovered and removed Stage 1c ovarian cancer (endometrioid). They also decided to remove my appendix, although no cancer was there.

Had a complete hysterectomy on July 27, 2011. Side effects where minimal and came home in 4 days.
My mom was in surgery about 5 days later. By this time she was absolutely miserable b/c of the fluid which had built up in her belly. My mom is a tiny woman, 5ft and just over 100lbs and the doctor removed 6 LITERS of fluid during the surgery. She also removed, in her words, "anything that my mom didn't need" which included: ovaries, F tubes, uterus, cervix, appendix, omentum, and any cancer that had "planted" itself on her lining, diaphram, and colon intestines. (Just in case there is anyone out there who is clueless like I was: She did this with a suction devise that she said literally sucks the cancer right off. She also explained that just because the cancer is on the surface of an area or organ does not mean that it has metastasized to that organ/area. That was much welcomed news to me!)

Laparoscopy to remove ovarian mass followed by laparoscopy for staging
Went in for post menapausal bleeding. My left ovary was enveloped in an unusual cyst. Because if my weight and three previous c-cections I was opened up for surgery and had a complete hysterectomy. Omentum, lymph nodes and fluid were tested at that time and all came back negative for cancer. There was stage one cancer in the ovary and in the uterus. CA125 were within normal ranges this whole time. May 5, 2016. Follow up visits looked good. Ca125 still showed nothing. February if 2017 I had shortness of breath. Went in and discovered my right lung was surrounded with fluid. A thorencentisis was done the fluid was biopsies and came back positive for ovarian cancer. I've had three more thorancentisis and finally a broncoscopy with VATS. This removed the fluid and causes the plural lining to firm scar tissue to stick to itself so the cancer doesn't firm blisters and create the fluid.
I went in to surgery to remove a football size mass from my abdominal region on June 23, 2017 and a complete hysterectomy. When I woke, they informed me that they had to remove 18 inches of my small intestine that had been infected with ovarian cancer.
