Oopherectomy: 5/06, The burning was the most painful part of this surgery. It went away fairly quickly though.
Hip nail procedure: 9/06, Learning to walk again and learning to walk up and down stairs again was painful, but better than having a full hip replacement if I broke the hip. This was a profelactic measure as there were lesions on the base of the hip ball.

I then had another surgery, to check the lymph nodes, thank God, they were neg., after that one I got staff infection & boy it was worst pain than the surgery itself. I was on 1000 mg of infection for almost 2 wks. Well, after I found out I had cancer, I was in shock for around a mon. or so, so were my parents, we could not look at each other without crying. It felt like I had been given a death sentence. You know, when you hear the big "C" word, everyone thinks, the big "D" word & I'm here to tell you, it's not always true. Then one day I was talking to a friend & she told me, Denise, you have to take hold of this thing & show it your not a quiter. Well, needless to say, something just clicked & I woke up & from then on I fought this thing & 3 years later, here I am.

- Lumpectomy May 2007. No side effects. Recouperated really well. My scars are barely noticeable. But one breast is slightly smaller. Hard to tell since I am a DD, but I can. UPDATE AUG/08. Can not see the scar, but feel a solid 4" line under my arm where lymph nodes were checked.
- Lumpectomy & Sentinel Node removal . . .April 24, 2008. Most of the pain was from the incision where they took the lymph nodes, it hurt for quite a while.
2nd Surgery . . . May 30, 2008 . . . Lumpectomy Re-do . . . the margins from my first lumpectomy were very small, so they needed to take more tissue. Because I don't have a lot of tissue to take, he had to take extra skin from my breast and some muscle from my chest wall. The worst part about this surgery was the burning I would feel from the muscle behind my breast.

Because of the Holidays and other scheduling conflicts on the doctor's part the surgery was put off until Feb 24 2010.

I had an emergency surgery to install a medi-port after the second chemo treatment because my veins went on strike.

- I had a biospy first & it turned out positive of cancer. That your gonna fight this with all you got, cause if you don't, it'll take you over & it will win. Well, needless to say, something just clicked & I woke up & from then on I fought this thing & 3 years later, here I am.

The most painful (and I'm not joking at all) of this process other than standing up in the middle of the night to walk..was the dye injection for the sentinal node biopsy. Its inhuman to put anyone through this procedure while they are still lucid.
- I had a biopsy done on Sept. 26, 2006 and a lumpectomy on Oct. 3, 2006. Waiting to have mastectomy and reconstruction.

I advice you to sit back and observe this site first before the final result then you can ramble on. I did ramble on thru cancer scare before final result so I regret it. If it comes up negative, you won't get over the cancer scare for the rest of your life. Mark my words.
- Mastectomy May 2002.
- Had a thyroidectomy March 2003 with an RAE131 ablation 8 weeks later, had residual thyroid cells on the thyroid bed ablated 18 months later. everything was GREAT until Oct. 2009 when I felt a bump on the side of my neck and my then endrochonolgist assured me that everyone had them, but then my Primary provider decided to send me to a thyroid specialist who first ordered a CT scan and then a Lymphectomy which proved to be cancerous with Papillary Cancer. Because of the Holidays and other scheduling conflicts on the doctor's part the surgery was put off until Feb 24 2010.

- 26 Feb 2008 radical neck dissection of right side of neck, Bilateral Tonsillectomy. The neck dissection took the right jugglar, muscle, 80 nodes, the 12th spinal accessory nerve, which paralyzed my right trapezius muscle which has resulted in the right should slumping forward somewhat, asome range of motion issues. The bilateral tonsillectomy, too the tonsillar pillar and to ensure that I had a clean margin, around the right tonsil, the 5th nerve was removed which handle the function of the right side of my tounge, which has faciltated some difficulties in swallowing.

Mastectomy- Has any one heard of the port being placed on the arm??
Skin/nipple spearing, bilateral Mastectomy with immediate reconstruction; the right Brest where the lump was found healed perfectly. The left side which was cancer free did not heal. The permanent implant was replaced with an expander implant and it did not heal either. The repeated reversal of the reconstruction was taking a toll on my moral and was also delaying the treatment. We decided to leave the left breast area to heal so quimo can begin. Once completed, the reconstruction will be attempted once again. Originally, it was thought that I did not need a port because the lymph nodes were clean. However, I do have to have one implanted and will done on Wed.

- I had a biospy first & it turned out positive of cancer. That your gonna fight this with all you got, cause if you don't, it'll take you over & it will win. Well, needless to say, something just clicked & I woke up & from then on I fought this thing & 3 years later, here I am.
- Masectomy 05/20/2008
- Actually my surgery went really well. I didn't have much pain and went home the next day. Some lymphadema.

- Left Mastecomy 9/25/07.
Recovering really wasn't that bad.
The node procedure was worse with recovery.
- November 5, 2009, bilateral mastectomy and sentinal node biopsy.
The most painful (and I'm not joking at all) of this process other than standing up in the middle of the night to walk..was the dye injection for the sentinal node biopsy. Its inhuman to put anyone through this procedure while they are still lucid.
- from 6/06 to 8/06 I had 3 surgerys one to remove the cancers for bio. the another to remove tissue and limpnodes and one to put a port in for chemo

Numbness under arm and across chest.
Pain in my ribs.
- December 2, 2003, bi-lateral mastectomy. Lymphedema.
- 1989 had a masectomy. It was in all my ducts of my breast. But I caught in early enough that it did not affect my lymph nodes so I did not need any radiation or chemotherapy. In 2000 I had a bilateral Tram flap reconstructive procedure
- In the long run? Probably worse than any of the rest of the ordeal. I HATED losing a breast. Especially the nipple. No reconstruction can restore that, regardless of what plastic surgeons can do to create a fake one. Oh, and it was performed on my 44th birthday in Dec. 2003, which didn't help matters any.
- 3 biopsies, double mastectomey, node disecction
- January 1994 - Stage 2 - Lump was 2.4 cm. - A second 0.3 cm lump found in breast after surgery. Left modified radical mastectomy with removal of 9 lymph nodes...1 (3cm) lymph node positive. ER/PR both positive.

This surgery was October of 2004.Later, I had the implant put in. That was January of 2006. I think having the muscle in my back redirected to make a pouch for my implant was more painful than the mastectomy.

The major side effect is: I now have major headaches. I am in pain every single day! It is never ending. At night time, it is even worse.
- craniotomy on 1/30/09 with ability to speak better immediately but still needs lots of speech therapy.
- Biopsy: 3/06, hurt like hell. Had a needle biopsy first but it did not harvest enough tissue so the surgical biopsy was necessary.
Port-a-cath insertion: 4/06, Periodic pain although it is more annoying than painful most of the time.
Kyphoplasty: 2/07, Really improved the pain in my back which wasn't helped by radiation treatment.
- My first surgery was on September 22, 2005 where I had a lump in my breast removed. I got the call on September 26th that is was cancerous. My second re-excision surgery was on October 5th. - August 2004 tumor removed from pancreas and took part of pancreas with it and removed the spleen. My father was told that he would not have to have chemo and that he would live a normal life that they got all the cancer and that was it. We should have made him get a second opinion you see the cancer that he was diagnosed with is very rare about 1 in 25 million people. the doctors didn't know enough about it. well two years later he started having the same symtoms as before very low blood sugars (he is not diabetic) so when he went back to the doctors they discovered that he had several very large tumors on and in his liver. We took him to MAYO's where he had a seven hour long surgery and had several complications, PE, and phrenic artery bleed. We know now that this cancer can not be cured or treated with chemo and that the tumors will be comming back. We just got back from Mayo's this last week and they found 2 more new spots on his CT. We go back in Jan. He is not ready for another surgery it has only been 7mos since the last one. I would love to hear from any one who knows anything about this cancer.

That your gonna fight this with all you got, cause if you don't, it'll take you over & it will win. Well, needless to say, something just clicked & I woke up & from then on I fought this thing & 3 years later, here I am.
- Bilateral Mastectomy 2-8-06
- May 2008 lump noted by self on right breast...mammogram ordered, ultrasound, biopsy...and finally double mastecomy July 8 2008 with 24 lymph nodes removed

- double mastectomy and reconstruction 1995
- see bio
- I was told today, I must have a rt mastectomy with lymph node resection.
- Mastectomy and reconstruction for left side. Breast lift for right. I had the latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction. I had an expander put in because I was going to have radiation. This surgery was October of 2004.Later, I had the implant put in. That was January of 2006. I think having the muscle in my back redirected to make a pouch for my implant was more painful than the mastectomy.
- We all had colon surgery @ same time in January 2006. Bart's cancer had penetrated his colon, and infected his liver, lung, and brain. He has been under chemo for many months. Brian had entire colon removed, but retains his rectum. Bruce had about 2 feet removed. Both Brian and Bruce had surgery again, due to complications. It all hurt like heck. But today, we all three are doing great.
- 7/11/07 1/3 colon removed and resected (no colostomy bag needed). Had 16 of 64 liver lymph nodes impacted. Had gallbladder and one cystic (non-cancerous ovary removed). Had hepatic pump implanted to deliver chemo directly to the liver when I wasn't getting systemic chemo.

2009 - Open neck ressection - continued swallowing/speaking issues

Tonsillectomy- September 22, 2008
Removal of colon, bladder, vagina, and two ovaries. Was in the hospital for one month recovering. Major healing problem was on a wound vac for four months, had home health care. Could not eat, sit, stand, walk due to pain. Have a permanent colostomy and ileo conduit.

Lump grew back - was again surigically removed by ENT surgeon on December 10, 2009 - received diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma, occult primary, on December 15, 2009. 2nd surgery to remove tonsils and biopsy other tissues to find primary is scheduled for December 29, 2009.
- Tonsillectomy and a colostomy. The colostomy was the result of complications from my chemo. A colostomy is used associated with colon cancer Not Head and Neck Cancer.
- removal of lump and lymph node followed be tonsil removal side effects slight neck stiffness worse in cold weather
