Help Me!Views: 4202

I can’t find a neuro oncologist in the state of Oklahoma. Plus, there are only a few in Texas. I would like to find one within a 3 hour drive or so. But, my neurologist doesn’t know a lot about cancer and my oncoloist doesn’t know a lot about the brain. I need more help. Now that I am done with radiation, Im still feel no better. I am still in bad pain daily, my memory is getting worse, the list could go on. So I have got to find a doctor today! If you can help me please do! Please keep me in your prayers and you will be in mine. Thanks

Dear Tabby,
I will pray for you, But basing what i am going to say on my own experience, you need to get the best advice immediately. And that means making a consult appointment at Memorial Sloan Kettering. They will be able to tell you what the cutting edge treatments and options are. Then you can decide if the options offered to you near your home are the adequate or not. I live in Long Island. About 90 miles from NYC. My first visit was with a local oncologist. Then my second consult was at a large University Hospital about 45 minutes from my house, and my third was at Sloan Kettering in NYC. I opted for treatment at the University Hospital cause Sloan confirmed that the University Hospital would do pretty much the same thing. The first oncologist which was local, was nice and knowledgeable but didn’t have the resources to treat me that would have been adequate. It wasn’t even in the same league.

So my advice to you is go to Sloan and get treatment there or at the nearest facility that is similarly competent.
God Bless you through your ordeal.

I agree with jacquesusa. Sloan or a place similiar would probably be your best bet. Anyway, it would be worth a try to see what they have to say.
Hang in there the best you can. I am not very good at dealing with pain so my heart breaks for you. I know it must be awful.
Are you getting better support from your husband now?
Praying for you each and every day, my friend.
Hugs,
Joyce

MD Anderson in Houston would be much closer to you. They are top notch!
