I’ve taken on quite a large challenge which is to participate in the Seattle-to-Portland cycling event in July, 2008. This is a 200 mile bike ride over 2 days. As much as I love having a goal to work toward and something other than cancer to think about, it’s a lot of pressure. Between working full time, being a wife and a mother, and going thru 5 days of treatment every 3 weeks, I’m feeling a little bit of pressure. The hardest party is starting back-up after treatment. It’s like starting a new exercise routine every 3 weeks. It’s a mental hurdle and block. But I have to say, the days that I do bike, I feel like I’ve robbed cancer of another day. This is enough to keep me going. Stay tuned is I up my mileage from my current 20-miles rides to 30, 40, 50 and onward. It doesn’t seem possible where I’m sitting right now, but I’m going for it anyway.
