Early in 2009, I noticed an extremely dry irritation in my throat that was constant. In April-May I noticed I was having difficulty swallowing. Found out in May that my right tonsil was enlarged.

I felt as if a had to constantly clear my throat and had trouble sleeping on my left side or back. I was originally diagnosed with sleep apnyea in 2008 and it was only a year later during a visit to mu chiropractor that he noted an enlargement of my right tonsil. I consulted my GP doctor and my dentist who only asked if it hurt, it didn't, and said they would not recommend getting my tonsils out at age 53. It was 3 months later that I had any pain and finally went to an ENT specialist who sent me for the tests that revealed the cancer.

It started out when i was sitting at my desk rubbing my neck and i felt a small lump on my left side.

Started out as a sore throat. My PCP prescribed antibiotics with a caveat that if this didn't clear it up then contact a throat specialist. After 10 days of antibiotics no improvement so I contacted the specialist. One look confirmed to her that my left tonosil was indeed malignant. I was further referred to an Otolaryngology surgeon who performed the biopsy confirming it was cancerous. A PET Scan further revealed that one lymph node was also suspected to be malignant.
Ongoing sore thoat - Was thought to be infection, then abscess then tonsil stone. Not until tonsilectomy was cancer discovered.

Left side of my neck just below my jawbone was "aching" one night. I felt a little lump with my tongue. I went into the bathroom, stuck my finger down my throat and felt a lump. I left a message that night for my dentist, who saw me following morning and sent me to an ENT. He couldn't help me because he doesn't take insurance. So he sent me to another ENT. Next day, I had preliminary tests (Friday) and Monday I had my biopsy. And as they say the rest is history
One swollen, painless tonsil - diagnosed as strep throat. Did not respond to strep treatment. Had dentist look at it, he said "it looks a little swollen"... that did not satisfy me, I called an ent and made an appointment.
Woke up one day while on vacation with a swollen neck and a bit of a fever. Both went away in a few days but a lymph node remained swollen. Went in for my annual physical shortly after I returned and my primary care physician gave me antibiotics and a referal to an ENT. Had a CT scan, then a Fine Needle Aspiration where they found abnormal cells, then a PET scan which confirmed the cancer.

None. Cancer was discovered on my right tonsil by chance. I went in for a Heart Ablation for my A-Fib and the Anesthetist saw a growth on my tonsil. The Electrophysiologist did not see it but told my Wife I should have it checked by an ENT.

I thought I had a cold and a minor soar throat. Went into my doctor who thought I had tonsillitis and gave me two weeks of antibiotics. I took them and they didn't help. He referred me to an ENT who took one look in my mouth, sat down, and told me it was cancer. He took biopsies of the tonsil which confirmed that it was cancer. He then referred me to the Porter Cancer Clinic and my surgeon. The rest is history...
Had a sore throat for awhile. Started to hurt on the left side when I yawned. When I felt something like a hairball when I swallowed. I went to the doctor. I was put on antibiotics for possible strep. When that didn't work I was sent to an ENT and he ordered a cat scan of the left neck and tonsil area. It came back showing a mass on the left tonsil and base of tongue.

Lump on my neck discovered on 11/13/11. Went to my PCP, he prescribed antibiotics and a CT. CT results did not rule out cancer, so an ultrasound guided fine needle biopsy was ordered and performed on 12/1/11. The malignant result was given to me on 12/5/11.

Enlarged lymph node on the right side of the neck. Wouldn't respond to anti-biotics. Was biopsied and found to positive for metastic squamous cell carcinoma.

minor swelling on rt neck came and went following a round of colds in the household. Finally my neck got huge overnight late October. Partial displacement of airway. Incise and drain golf ball size Staph infection from Level II lymph node deep in neck next to interior jugular. 4 days in hospital. Slow to heal over course of next couple months. Eventual FNA suggests atypical cyst or SCC. PET/CT shows SCC in node and primary to be rt tonsil.
