Hard to say (only time will tell if they were indeed symptoms of my cancer), but in the last few to several years I did experience: ongoing pain in my lower back, some bloating, excessive gas, weight gain/bigger belly size, fatigue, bowel pains/problems with loose stools. hoarse voice, trouble breathing at times
It's been about 4 years since i have been in and out of appointments trying to find out if i had anything wrong with my thyroid i have had about 4 biopsies and in the past they were all inconclusive. Since them my life has changed when my bronchitis seem to go away i had horrible heart palpitations had to go into the ER because i got so scared from my heart palpitations i was put on High blood pressure medication Norvasc. After that i was very depressed crying all the time i had to change my medication. I then went in for a physical and my doctor felt a lump on the right side of my thyroid she sent me to and ENT and he sent me to yet another ultra sound and another biopsy. I had a follow up appointment with my ENT and he told me that i had hurthle cells and needed to get it checked and removed surgically. My world felt apart and from there on i was frighten to have a surgery done. But i managed to stay strong until now that my doctor told me i had to have everything removed due to thyroid Cancer. I have been trying my best but im a complete wreck.
Sudden appearance of large lump in my neck is what started it all.
Before I got diagnosed I was feeling very fatigued and my heart rate was very high. The only reason I was going to the doctor was to get vaccinations for school. I told him about my symptoms and he said he thought it was Hyperthyroidism. He checked my levels and everything came back fine and did for months. My doc kept checking my levels because he was positive it was my thyroid. One day my levels came back abnormal and we went from there! They did an Ultrasound and found a nodule...then did a biopsy. The ENT told me the biopsy looked a little suspicious and he wanted to take the left side of my thyroid out. When he did the surgery he decided to take my whole thyroid. Which now I am glad!!

He performed a colonoscopy and he said everthing looked fine but I did have some non-bleeding internal hemorrhoids. I was not happy with the findings because I was bleeding and the pain was getting worse. He then had me swallow a camera and came to the same conclusion that I was fine. I called back and told them everything was not fine. The bleeding was getting worse and the pain was also increasing. They finally sent me to a colon rectal surgeon, who after five minutes of meeting me, did a digital exam and told me he was pretty sure I had anal cancer!

What Mesothelioma Cancer Survivors said about their Cancer Symptoms.
chronic cough, shortness of breath, weakness, fatigue, anemia
28 lb Mass of 100's of tumors stemming from my peritoneum. Basically your peritoneum allows your organs to glide around in your abdomen. It produces and absorbs fluid. My peritoneum stopped working correctly and continued to flood my abdomen with cyst pockets. I went for many therapy drains which included abdomen taps into these fluid pockets, draining 4 liters of fluid at a time to remove this toxic fluid. The amount of mass and fluid filled my abdomen to the stage where it blocked, impeded, and mangled organs with my abdomen. Ouch! So painful. Some needle taps could not safely reach through my abdomen and it was necessary to tap through my pelvis to reach some cyst pockets. I continually met with doctors who told me my condition was benign! This fluid glowed like mountain dew. Sometimes it was brown and bloody during my more painful periods. Eventually it mangled my ovaries so severely they did metastasize I lost so much work. I lost my jobs. I couldn't find any doctors to help me, only experimental procedures tapping these fluid pockets. I finally found a wonderful surgeon Dr. Paul Sugarbaker, who not only finally was able to cut this complicated mass from my body but saved my life. Life isn't the same. I have ongoing challenges. But I have learned acceptance. I thank God every day for the days I have. I love life!
